Confirmation
“By the sacrament of Confirmation, those who are baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.” Lumen Gentium
Far from being graduation from religious education, Confirmation is being sent more deeply into the Catholic Christian life of mission!
Confirmation is a sacrament of mission and initiation that sends baptized Christians into the world to witness and proclaim Christ in their daily life. We see that most clearly when God poured out the Holy Spirit at Pentecost on the Apostles, giving them the courage and the gifts they needed to spread the Gospel.
Every Catholic Christian has the mission to share that good news of Jesus Christ with the world, and Confirmation gives the strength and gifts needed to do that in the world today. For more information about receiving Confirmation, either as a teenager or an adult, please contact Fr. Radloff at dbq166@dbqarch.org.
