Sponsor and Confirmation student Retreat day
November 17 is the retreat for confirmation students and their sponsors. The day begins with 10:30 Mass at St. Luke in St. Lucas. This is followed by a lunch and the retreat will begin about Noon. This is a wonderful activity and focuses on the role of community in our faith. If a sponsor can not make it that day, a parent or another adult needs to fill in as there is a lot of one on one discussion between student and sponsor. The day should conclude around 2:30 PM.

Confirmation Works of Faith Activities
A change in the confirmation program has opened an opportunity for all people in the cluster to participate in works of faith in your community. As Catholics, we are called to demonstrate our faith by serving those around us, especially those less fortunate than ourselves. Similar to last year, students are being given several organized opportunities to perform service in their immediate community and the expanded regional community. The Light of Christ office is currently working to put these projects together, but they include spending a day helping home bound cluster community members with spring cleaning activities that they could not perform themselves. Some of the other works of faith opportunities will include singing Christmas carols at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehab center, working at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter in Waterloo, or attending Catholic Heart Workcamp, an exciting week long summer service camp. As the dates come closer, we will put announcements in the bulletin asking for everyone who is able to sign up and work with the confirmation students. This is a great chance for all of you to be involved in local service to your community. We will be asking people to sign up ahead of time for these service opportunities. So when you see the events advertised please consider joining us in these exciting endeavors.
